Since much of my model railway inspiration comes from British model railroad literature, I wanted to get a British part of the layout right from the start. But not until 2015 the opporunite came when I needed a long, straight calibration track.
The track was to be built on the shelf below the main layout and became the start of the construction of the British part.
The scenery is fictional and built as a warm pastish on elements from various layouts as presented in British MR magazines.
As me and my wife have travelled around with trains in Scotland the theme would naturally be Scottish. And the given location, underneath the main layout gave the area the name The Lowlands.
